On Tuesday 19th April 2016 the Secondary Ensembles at Waverley Christian College Wantirna South held their first ‘Senior Music Ensembles Night’. It was a great night filled with wonderful music from our great bands and choirs.
Ensemble performances included Secondary Concert Band, ‘Octave One’ Jazz Choir, Secondary String Orchestra, Secondary Choir, a VCE Music vocal group, Secondary Jazz Band and a special preview performance by ‘The Lion King Experience’.
All introductions and comparing were given by the Performing Arts and Ensemble Captains and this added to the special vibe of the night with students really taking ownership of the work they have done.
A big thank you to our Ensemble Directors, Cate Neil and Asher Johnson, for their hard work with these ensembles and their expertise in bringing out the best in every student.
Thank you to the Performing Arts staff at WCC, Mr. Brian Hamilton, Ms Katherine Doyle, Mrs Suzanne Spratley and Mrs. Wendy Shannon for their work on this event as well as to Mr Francis Piccin and Mr. Chris Shannon for their work backstage.
If you missed out on the performance of our Jazz Band and Jazz Choir you still have an opportunity to come down and see them perform at the ‘Night of Jazz’ held at Wantirna College this Thursday night from 7:30pm before they head to Mt Gambier Generations in Jazz Festival on the 6th to the 8th May.
Thank you to all the staff and students involved in making this a great first ensembles event and we look forward to seeing you at the 2017 Senior Music Ensembles Concert.
Mr. David George
Secondary Music Coordinator
